Yes, yes, yes. We get it. The waiters in Avoca are easy on the eye. But then, they get it too. “It makes sense when 85 per cent of our customers are ladies,” laughs manager Justin O’Brien. “We do have the obligatory waitress here and there too.” The past year has seen some changes – the “traditional mental days” are now not quite so busy, but business has also picked up midweek. On our last visit, we had no trouble getting in for Sunday brunch and when our female companion wasn’t cooing over the cute babies on show, she was cooing over the cute waiters. When she finally remembered she was there to eat, she devoured the fish pie (€14.95) with aplomb. We’ll be back. Is that technically stalking?
