Ranelagh's Finest
Thai food suits the Irish palate, with its fresh herbs and just the right level of spiciness – we were never able to handle hot vindaloos like the English. The Diep group still serves the most authentic Thai food in the city, from the flagship Diep Le Shaker, Diep Noodle Bar in Ranelagh and Diep at Home. Where Le Shaker is rich and elegant, Noodle is relaxed and modern, with bright banquettes, red walls and splashed modern art. Book a group table for a Saturday night and try the Taste of Thailand dinner menus – plates of seafood, meat and noodle dishes to share, €36.50 or €38.50 – washed down with a good cocktail. Cheap enough, boisterous and very tasty.

Diep manages to pair excusitie asian fusion cuisine with a laid-back stylish atmosphere, a feat hard to find in Dublin. Without presenting itself as an uptight eatery like many Dublin restuarants of similar standing, Diep is still my first choice for impressing the relatives or a new beau.
