Trouble in Paradise
It’s been a tough old year for Eden. Owner Jay Bourke was served a High Court action in summer 2009 by his landlord, the Temple Bar Cultural Trust, over unpaid (very high) rent. He came out all guns blazing, claiming, “Technically they’re right. Morally they’re wrong, and economically they’re wrong.” So what now? Manager Trudy Ahern says the plan is to continue as usual and see how things go. It would be missed if it went, this crisp beauty in the middle of stag party central. We often enjoy brunch on the terrace, looking out over Meeting House Square – their smokies (€13.50) are a treat. At lunch or dinner, go for the day’s catch (€21/€24) – they do fish particularly well here.

I love Eden. I usually go with friends and family for an occasion. Food is always consistently good, service also. Efficient but not rushed and you can linger on a Sunday afternoon. I always prefer lunch to dinner but thats just me.

Fresh local seasonal produce cooked with imagination. Great brunch menu on Sundays.

Usually there's always some disappointment when going out for a meal, however small - starter a bit bland, service slow, wine over-priced, etc, etc. Not in Eden. Tastiest meal, from starter to dessert, ever! And very good service. Fantastically recommended.
