Bourgeois Bar
We could have picked all three outposts of the Ely empire. Each is a place of mirth and polite excess. This newcomer offers a larger menu than its Ely Place and CHQ sisters, and just as many great wines. There is a hint of the 1960s in the sleek wood, rose-coloured soft furnishings and prints. The menu is weighted towards fish and seafood – starters include Carlingford Oysters (€10), pan-fried lingoustines (€13.50) and scallops carpaccio (€9.95). For mains one might have roast cod fillet with citrus, mint and mussel broth (€23) or pan-roasted halibut (€28.95) – as well as meats sourced from the owners’ farm in the Burren. Expect a clued-in, after-work Docklands crowd. Don’t be surprised if you score.
