As a caterer, Claire Hanley provides food that isn’t mass-produced for weddings, parties and Bar Mitzvahs. Feeding “attractive lawyers” is what her restaurant, Hanley at the Bar, is all about. Breakfast is served from 8am, although lunch is the main attraction. Recently, Hanley decided to stay open until 5pm Mondays and Tuesdays and till 8pm Wednesday to Friday – good news for punters hoping to catch up on inexpensive, good quality food and gossip from the Four Courts. We like the risotto with green peas, asparagus and prawns – so bad when it’s done wrong, but here they get it just right. Goats’ cheese crouton with tapenade and a salad of char-grilled vegetables heads up the starters. Try the grilled entrecôte steak sandwich with onions and fries for mains (a mere €13.60). None of the mains are more than €15.
