Basement Italian
This mid-priced Italian is metaphorically (and literally?) the midpoint between the Unicorn and the Steps of Rome. We have often enjoyed long boozy dinners with colleagues in its clattering dining room. Service is invariably okay and the room itself encourages bonhomie of the we’re-all-in-this-together variety. The food is fairly standard. Standout dish is the sorpresa di manzo, a fillet of beef with prosciutto, spinach, red pepper and buffalo mozzarella in herb pastry.
