Foie Wha’?
Blimey, those animal-rights protestors are loud. And doesn’t it seem a bit unfair that they single out Pearl for selling foie gras? After all, within 100 yards you’ll find ten more places that import the stuff. (Maybe they just don’t want to face off with Guillaume Lebrun.) This lovely basement restaurant is co-owned by chef Sebastien Masi and host Kirsten Batt, a dream team if ever we saw one. For our money, the star of the show here is the seafood: go for Carlingford oysters (€12 for half a dozen), followed by roasted halibut (€27). Save room for the crème brûlée (€6), a little pot of perfection. Make sure to ask for a snug – perfect for an intimate date. Or an affair, for that matter.

Pearl's waiters haven't forgotten how to smile, and the kitchen dishes up good-looking, tasty food. The setting is comfortable and chic but so trendy that it intrudes on the senses. Tables are well spaced so that if you wish to eavesdrop it has to be intentional!
