Swank You
Though it changes seasonally, the menu at Peploe’s has stuck to the same swanky-bistro formula for some time now. The punters aren’t complaining – they fill the place nightly, favouring the pre-concert dinner deal which offers three courses for €25. The new trendy meat on the block features on the à la carte – Rabbit Osso Bucco a la Milanese with saffron risotto (€27.50), while more conventional tastes can opt for the rib-eye steak with rosemary potatoes (€26.50). Knowledgeable staff will guide you through the exceptional wine list. A slightly confusing floor plan – don’t get lost on your way to the bathroom. You might bump into Michael Flatley. Not in the bathroom, necessarily – we just mean, he’s a regular.

always buzzing, never raucous. There is something about the cosy atmosphere that makes the place so appealing, a far cry from lots of other restaurants with an excess of glass and chrome fittings (they should lose that mural though). Menu is well structured - the food is simple and straightforward, homely and morish. I suspect they have a heavy hand with the butter, but the results are so good you'd forgive them and it certainly wouldn't stop me ordering several more courses (damn the consequences!). I've found the service to be always of a good standard. Also, the lunch-menu, for the quality of the food that you get and the standard of service is one of the best value places in town. Defo, one of the best in Dublin. Fri, 8/31/07 4:03 AM

Very pleasing. A friend made lunch reservations at this Stephens Green location prior to a recent Irish rugby match. The place was buzzing with life. We immediately felt at home having been greeted by a professional hostess who, without delay showed us to our seats, following which we were introduced to a man who would be our (very attentive) waiter. The scene was nicely set and it was no surprise to hear the sound of laughter and glasses being held high in toasts - the place lends itself to this, I thought. The exceptional winelist is truly extensive - a must for anyone who enjoys the grape. Having selected a full bodied French red, we awaited our meal, in my case mouthwatering, incredibly fresh lobster and crabmeat that could have been straight from the sea. My colleague chose a sirloin steak, the chef had chargrilled the meat to perfection. The meal was excellent, the ambience too, and without the price tag of some of it's neighbours. The French wine was the perfect addition to the delicious fare. (I can't say the same about the French rugby team that day at Croke Park).

Horribly rude front-of-house woman who doesn't know the meaning of hospitality.

Love this place! To be honest, I've never had a full course meal. I usually go to meet up with mates and drink at the wine bar and have the occasional appetizer: The cheese platter is lovely. The staff is more than welcoming, friend and the atmosphere is always buzzing!
