Jealousy on a Plate
The interior of this upscale pub is cosy, if a little, well, gloomy. Venture outside if possible. There, witness pub-grub as social commentary. Watch new-Dalkey builders, braying inanities to hangers-on and drinking their minds to jelly in the bald rays of a weekday afternoon. These darlings are the reason why you still live in a derelict bedsit with someone you’re beginning to hate. Don’t take your eyes off the food for too long. The pub cat isn’t exactly self-conscious. One can’t blame him. The burgers are impressive, lightly seasoned hunks of protein, the desserts are rich, rewarding, full of guilt, and the waitresses... wear sunglasses. It’s good food and, if you can stand the jealousy, good people-watching fun. But stay away from the Queens when the revolution comes. If the insurgents have any sense they’ll nuke this place first.
