Uber-Luxe
The daunting presence of Patrick Guilbaud overshadows other dining options in the Merrion: the ornate drawing room (posh lunches), the Cellar bar (gourmet pub grub), the Cellar restaurant (full dinner menu) and the terrace overlooking the garden. If you have the weather, head to the latter and nibble canapés, finger sandwiches, fresh pastries and scones for €32 – add champagne to the mix for €49.50. Godlike staff. Sunday brunch in the Cellar is a treat. Unusually considering the surroundings, there’s a corner of goodies for the kids, so you can sip/gulp bubbly without worrying about the little ones, which is what Sundays are all about.
