'To the Max
Florian Adamec of Chez Max on Baggot Street cares not for tourists. “They will only come once,” he says, with the irresistible bluster that’s a vital ingredient in all great French eateries. Florian focuses on the regulars, who enjoy this newcomer’s Gallic treats like Boeuf Bourguignon (€16.50) and Moules Frites (€14.50). The French onion soup (€5.90) is a delight as well – but we want the little teapots they used to present it in at the Palace Street branch! The terrace out back is packed, rain or shine; with its own bar, we suggest it’s the best spot for a boozy lunch on this side of town. Beware: the staff have heavy hands with the wine bottles. For groups, this can lead to bigger bills and/or inappropriate snogging.
