Hot Buns
A wonderful addition to Dublin’s foodie scene two years ago, and the winner of our Santa Rita People’s Choice Award 2009. You know all about the massive burgers, the funky music, the champion value. You also know that the Blackrock branch, as well as (over-optimistic?) sideline Jo’Banger closed in the past year or so. But the flagship branch battles on, and it’s not just hipsters in there anymore. On a recent visit we spotted three generations of one family dining together – granny, mam and grandson. The music was baffling to them all, the menu’s trendy typeface confusing, but the looks on their faces as they chowed down were unmistakable. Irvine Welsh looked equally happy at a nearby table.
