Somethings amis
A neighbourhood restaurant in not-quite-the-best sense of the word. This veteran has served Clontarf for many years and now seems to be struggling as newcomers roll into town with fancy new menus and charming service i.e Sand Bar, Hemingways. The showoffs! Our friends at Les Amis don’t seem to have done very much to change with the times. We had the chili con carne (€17.95) which was just okay and definitely not worth the money. The uneaten pepper sauce burger (€14.95) was a dry husk of mince swimming in a fairly gelatinous gunk (in their defence, they didn’t charge us for it, which was decent). The only other diners were a table of 17-year-olds who seemed more interested in what they were wearing than any culinary prowess. Perhaps they had the right idea. 11b Vernon Avenue, Clontarf, Dublin 3. 833 3989
