It’s not quite an empire, but it’s certainly heading that way. From its flagship on Chatham Row, Mao has conquered Dublin, Glasgow and Cape Town. This Dundrum branch is allegedly “the jewel in the crown.” It’s by the pond outside Dundrum Town Centre – sit outside on a nice evening. Inside is bright and funky, with a touch of the fast-food vibe in the functional furniture, and in the food. Expect a mix of Indonesian, Thai and Chinese cuisine. Fresh and zippy soups, tiger prawns, crayfish salad, chilli squid and satay chicken are all under €8. For mains, try the Malaysian chicken (€18.95) or the chilli mango duck with hokkien noodles (€17.95). One for after the cinema.

Go here most days for lunch - fast service which is imperative at lunch hour. Very good, well presented food at a great price. Am never disappointed.
