Real sushi... at last
Finally Dublin has serious sushi in take away form. And this little place, tucked down a lane off Ranelagh Road, even delivers to anywhere within a ten-minute radius. Translation: If Godfathers on Leeson Street delivers to you, then Michie Sushi will too. Owner Michel Piare creates all the dishes to order and the quality of his sushi has caused quite a few to sit up and take notice. According to Michel, not only are people seeking his fare out from all over the city, they are coming from all over the country. (Probably a load of bollocks.) He’s been offered various business partnerships but has vowed to endure the difficult first year alone. The menu is simple and covers most of the essential classics: nigiri, maki, ura maki, temaki sushi, and gunkan (salmon and flying fish roe). All are excellent, and the sashimi puts other pretenders to shame. The prices are reasonable too, considering the cost of the raw material. Ten pieces of sashimi will only set you back €9, while most selections range from €8-€12.50. Platters can be ordered for home catering or business functions. A find. 11 Chelmsford Lane, Ranelagh, Dublin 6. 497 6438
