Wingin’ It
His chicken wings (€12.95) send out a homing signal to most of D4, but there are other delights on Kevin Byrne’s seasonal menu too. CBC’s signature dish is haddock in beer batter with chips (€18.95), and their steaks are good – try the dry-aged sirloin with watercress bernaise (€25.95). Trevor Browne and Ger Foote, who also own Tribeca in Ranelagh, set up this place in 2001, having made their name with Temple Bar’s Dish in the 1990s. It’s comfortable and attractive, with a New York vibe – bright and chatty at the front, loungy and romantic at the back. Brunch is the best time to visit – keep your eyes peeled for members of the Leinster rugby team, and Louis Walsh. Probably not together.
