Kimon-out
Having been awarded 191 Michelin stars this year, Tokyo has become the de facto food capital of the world. Paris has a paltry 100 in comparison. London, a meagre 50. Brandishing this knowledge, we headed out to Koishi, a new Japanese in Ballsbridge.
It all seemed very authentic. Waitresses in kimonos smiled coyly and bowed us a welcome. We took a seat in the somewhat spartan yet unmistakably Japanese dining room. The menu featured nothing we haven’t seen before. Still, the sashimi moriawase was everything it should have been: impeccably presented, cool and refreshing.
The sake was light,
floral and potent, and the delightfully weird music from the Land of
the Rising Sun all combined to make it a worthy expedition.
