Home Advantage
Ever since the shiny Luas arrived, with its accurate timetables and posh automated tannoy, the noble old DART has lost a little of its magic. But not for Karl Dillon, previously of Gruel, now owner of the House. “It’s a great asset,” he laughs. “It brings people in from far afield, right to our doorstep!” There are worse places the DART could drop the Southside food brigade than outside this homely eatery, a nice spot to gather the family on a Sunday afternoon. The spacious layout means you’ll be able to enjoy your House fry-up (€12.95) or Galway Mussels (€19.50) without fear of bumping elbows with the next table over. The House wine – geddit? – is good too, or you can choose to enjoy a Whitstable Ale al fresco on the large terrace.
