Central Pork
Head chef Stephen McAllister is like the Big Bad Wolf – brilliant with pigs. The pork belly (€22.95) at the Pig’s Ear is, fittingly, excellent, tearing apart like butter and making a visit to this relatively new eatery a must for fans of skilled cooking. While we’re on the location, there’s no point denying that it’s a minus – not because it’s very far out of the way, but simply because it’s easy to forget it’s there. (The entrance from Nassau Street is just marked by a small sign – the restaurant is up a set of stairs.) But hey, let’s treat it as a plus too – great views of Trinity, and it’s cosy and atmospheric. Front of house is maintained by the always-excellent Andrea Hussey.4 Nassau Street, Dublin 2. 670 3865
I absolutely fell in love with this place. you've hit the nail on the head with the labour of love comment.
I felt the team there is serious about food but doesn't take itself too seriously. The food was divine and i loved the little quirky touches in menu as well as the decor. Loved the return of long-lost favourites such as the prawn cocktail and triffle. here's hoping the word spreads, but not too quickly , in a selfish kind of way ..

Love it! Great menu - definitely out of the norm and a bit adventurous without being pompous. Service was very good. Good value also.
